Have you really got the time?

So, moving on from The Zebra Puzzle let's think about time and what we understand time to be. Conventional wisdom tells us that both time and energy is finite. When you run out of energy or time in life that's it. You die.

Let me bring to your attention the Pink Floyd song titled 'Time' from their 1973 album 'Dark Side of the Moon'.

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill the day
And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death..

Understanding time

Now this part is extremely important for you to know, understand and take on board. Some people will tell you that time is an illusion. Please don't listen to such fools. Time is a meta-physical experience that we all experience as the fundamental basis of our lives. Being a mystic and shaman, meta-physics is my domain. Let me share with you some insights about time and energy.

  • It is true that energy and physical existence is finite and impermanent

All physical existence is based on energy and energy wave, cycles and vibrations. This includes your physical body, your brain, your predominantly physical senses or sensory perception. All needs energy not only to function, but also to exist.

  • Time is metaphysical and arises out of space and consciousness

The reality of time is that you need iron in order to exist and to live. Iron is produced out in space from the collision of galaxies. Out of iron we get 'Heme B', the component which regulates your heartbeat and binds oxygen to your red blood cells. Your breathing and heartbeat are therefore your two most important connections to the universe and this planet, without which you will die.

  • Your life is a cycle of energy on a very low vibration and frequency

Solid physical objects, i.e. not living exist on extremely high frequencies of energy and an intense relationship with space. The cycles and vibrations are so intense and fast that no other energy can permeate this relationship easily. Life, through biological matter, occurs on very low frequencies of energy. The life cycle of a human being can take anything up to 120 years to complete. But there are other cycles and vibrations, such as the life cycle of a biological cell, which can be a nanosecond.

  • Time is always relative to your experience of life and energies

Time is most real for you when it's directly relative to your heartbeat. This is your internal body clock. You measure your life experience and physical activities against space through time. But see also understand that consciousness and space are one and the same thing - not physical - from your perspective. Time passes slower when you are stressed, anxious, nervous, but when time passes slowly you are burning through more energy of your life cycle. When time passes quickly, when you are mindful, happy, enjoying yourself and connected to your environment, not only are you burning less energy but you are also increasing your conscious awareness, out of which more energy can arise.

Your heartbeats and thoughts are both finite

The problem here obviously is that you don't know how many heartbeats or thoughts you have available in your life. Nobody knows. But what you can determine is how much actual life experience you are getting for your time spent alive, enjoyable life experience, memorable life experience, as opposed to thinking about life, monotony, drudgery, routines and compulsions.

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that be that come to nought, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
Time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say..

What you need to wrap your mind around is the notion that your process of dying is not some random event at the end of your life, but is a lengthy process which starts from the middle of your life when you slowly die a little each year and life starts slipping away from you. Not being able to find time for stuff and life becoming more difficult and cumbersome are symptoms of your life slipping away from you.
